Some employers hold conferences or seminars where their employees are trained all together. This makes it easier for the company to be on one page with policies and techniques to be used and can avoid a lot of confusion and waste of time and energy.
Many people learn much better when using more senses than just hearing someone talk about the job. This is why video is often used to give a visual of what is being taught. It is easier to remember what you have learned if you both see and hear it.
By the same token, using even more senses increases the rate of information retained greatly. Role playing is an excellent way to practice dealing with situations instead of just talking about what to do. This way, those being trained can call upon more than just the words, but remember what they have actual done before.
Mentoring is another form of job training that provides the worker with an experienced individual who can help them make correct decisions while learning the reasons. This is somewhat like on the job training, but allows for more personalized attention. A mentor can quickly help a new employee to understand the tricks of the trade, whichever trade that may be.
